Wow, a group rape fantasy from 2005. I'm so glad I never was a part of so-called "geek community" (and EnE is NOT geek community).

 

We have (and had) our own weird stuff on this very forum, and a number of geek members.

The overall "comminuty" is another thing though.

 

 

Yeah, we had our own share of weirdness... I recall a user who was claiming that he was literally in love with Asuka and other stuff like this. But we never arrived at the level of that thread on Evageeks. I can't remember anything similar, at least.

I do expect that sort of stuff anywhere but not people discussing rape of a character, especially when its in a general discussion thread. If it was else where I wouldn't be susprised, although still disgusted.

I even dug through those other topics to find the incriminating evidence and he isn't joking, very serious. Here's the specific post, Reichu a founder of Evageeks and a pediofile who calls raping children fun. I really enjoy bashing Evageeks, they do deserve it.

Well, maybe bashing them is funny, but I'm not sure that it's a good way to spend your time. I wouldn't really pay attention to them or any other community that I dislike so much. It's a bit unhealthy in itself.

 

I also don't think it's appropriate to call him a pedophile. That's kind of very strong word to use. I'm not trying to protect him, but that word should be reserved to people who actually are capable of committing the act, not someone who just writes a bunch of bullshit. It actually looks like a very typical geek community where many of the members don't honestly have any idea about the appropriateness of the stuff they write and they think that it's somehow funny and counter-mainstream at the same time, while actually it's childish and bland. That's one of the reasons why I disassociate EnE with geek "culture". Well, I actually don't need to try hard, since, thankfully, most of our members have common sense.

 

I also should note that all those posts you mention were written in 2005. Probably right now they wouldn't write this or anything similar, since the awareness of rape culture and sexism in geek community increased quite a bit since 2005.

Yea I know, that was a half hearted remark. I know they're not actually like that and it doesn't reflect how they are currently. I just think its worth noting that they did, I know he thought he was being funny with the Gendo and Rei 1 mention but the fact is, he read that and many others noting it was mostly lame porn and not serious enough for him. I'm just saying, anyway this only takes a moment of my time but I can understand what you mean by it being unhealthy though.
